Recipe Review
Today’s
Recipe and Location: Carrot-Thyme
Soup
Found in: The Pioneer Woman blog
I am not a veggie girl so this
recipe is just not for me. I do like raw carrots, but I am not a big fan of the
texture of cooked ones. I do like to cook with thyme. It is in the mint family,
which is why it is also good for people with respiratory problems. It is
considered a great source of Vitamins C and A, as well as iron and fiber. There
are about 60 varieties in the world. Who knew?? I just know that I like to cook with it and that you will
really enjoy it in Ree’s soup recipe.
Craft Corner
On
Halloween, the fifth graders took a field trip to Richardson Farm, which houses
the largest corn maze in the United States. We rode on a bus for over an hour
so I used my time wisely by knitting a kitchen wash cloth. Prior to leaving
home today, I realized that I had only one cloth left in the drawer. My Mom
always gave them to us for holidays and they are wonderful. Mom obtained them
from Annette Wilkens, Marla Burger’s mother. Annette was a wonderful woman,
whom I adored. I decided this is something that I can recreate for myself. I
will always think of Annette as I make the replacement cloths for myself.
Here is a close-up. I love the yarn. |

My Gorgeous Girls
I
was outside playing with the girls on the deck last week. They had the funniest
expressions on their faces. I wonder what they are thinking? They both looked so serious. What do
they know that I don’t?
