What the Beck???

The Wedding of Maddie and Dave - Blog Day 1

My contribution to the wedding was
to decorate this trellis for the ceremony.

I decorated it in the tent, but it was
moved outside for the actual wedding

Maddie, the bride-to-be, liked my work

This begins the pictures taken before the wedding.
Maddie looked so beautiful!

What the Beck???

Molly and Bryan’s Rehearsal and Wedding

I was quite honored when my niece, Molly and Bryan asked me to officiate their wedding, Unfortunately since I was in the ceremony, I did not get the opportunity to take the pictures that I would have loved to take that day. Here are the ones I was able to get from the rehearsal and wedding days.

The ring bearers and flower girl
The youngest boy, is my great nephew Colton

They are so darn cute

They were very focused

The bridesmaids awaiting the bride

On the left, is Bryan, the fabulous groom
The other guys are the groomsmen

My gorgeous nieces:
Alaina with our baby to be in November,
Maddie, the next bride,
and Molly, the woman of the hour, the bride

My youngest niece, Rachel, joins her cousins

What are we looking at?

These four are my world.
I love them so much!

 The Wedding Day

to look at the "real" photographers photos of the day go to:  http://mlindsayphotography.com/

The wedding was held at the amazing Starline Factory.  If you are a bride to be - check it out.
Maddie and Alaina try to figure out G-Ma's camera.

The room was so dark that my little
flash didn't make a difference.

Darn the darkness!
Their smiles were so perfect

The hallway had a lot of light

I love this picture of Maddie and Alaina

Molly's dress took my breath
She was so beautiful

I am so happy for you, Molly Jo

What the Beck???

Recipe Review
Today’s Recipe and Location: Maple-Bacon Scones
Found in: The Pioneer Woman Cooks: A Year of Holidays
Page: 171     Copyright:  2013 Harper Collins

I figured out that there are 165 calories, if 44 individual servings are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

I shared these scones with our new neighbors, as well as the Mansour, Serpico, and Coleman families. These were unique and the taste was unexpected. I liked the bacon aftertaste. These appeared to be a hit with my fabulous neighborhood. I am so thankful that my neighbors are open to my sharing Ree’s wonderful food with them.

This recipe begins with the Perfect Cream
Scones that I had in the recipe section on Monday

The first step in the glaze is to mix all
of the ingredients except the bacon.

Actually, I prepared the bacon first and then chopped it
into very small pieces to sprinkle over the glaze.

Just look at that bacon

Don't they look good?

A little bit of Heaven

A Cool West Chicago House

As I was returning home from decorating for Maddie’s wedding, I spotted this cool house in West Chicago.  I just love a cupola.  This one reminded me of something you would find in the old. South.

Apparently I was leaning, or maybe I
have one leg shorter than the other one.

Don't ya just love it?

What the Beck???

Recipe Review
Today’s Recipe and Location: Perfect Cream Scones

I figured out that there are 100 calories, if 44 individual servings are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

These easy to make scones would be a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee, or as a mid morning snack with a cup of tea. I just liked them plain.

First, I sifted together the dry ingredients.
Then I cut in the butter

Should look like this when mixed

Then, I mixed the egg and heavy whipping cream together
Pour it into the dry ingredients
I used my hands to mold it into a rectangular shape
Then I used the rolling pin.
I love this rolling pin so much!
This is what I ended up with when I was finished

I used my trusty pizza cutter to divide the dough into squares

Just look at those yummy butter pieces
The next step was to divide the squares into two triangles
I always use these liners as they save the pans,
 and nothing sticks to them
(not even melted cheese)
They look homemade as they are not perfectly triangular

I use the racks to allow them to cool

The Garage Sale

I have always enjoyed going to garage sales and looking for treasures. I do not enjoy hosting a garage sale, however. I am not good at just sitting in a chair for hours and hoping people drop by to purchase something.
Even though it is not my favorite thing to do, I am glad that I put so many books in the hands of my neighborhood children. I sold almost everything for a quarter, because the goal was to empty my garage of the boxes of my personal school library. I am donating the remaining books to an organization called SCARCE..
This is a great organization that appears to take many objects. The building is in Glen Ellyn. The address is 799 E. Roosevelt Road, Building 2, Suite 108.  Check out the website and then go on a cleaning spree.

So many books!

This was the first round that I put out for sale

So much to sell
