Week 29 Sunday (8/3/14)

Recipe Review

Today’s Recipe and Location:           Summer Stir Fry
Found in: The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food From my Frontier
                           Pages 174 - 176       Copyright:  2012  Harper Collins

I figured out that there are 230 calories per serving, if 8 servings are made. Because I do not eat either of the tomatoes or the zucchini, my calories count was 211 calories if 8 servings.  (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

Doesn't this look like a great summer dish?

Yum! Yum!

I loved this stir-fry but I had to omit three ingredients so I can’t make a true and valid assessment for you. I omitted both types of tomatoes and the squash. So basically, I was left with corn, shrimp and garlic, which was fabulous.  If you love tomatoes and squash I bet this would be a keeper.

Trivial Triffles

I am sure that by now you know that I love looking at the sky.  These pictures were taken at dusk a few weeks ago. The sunsets frequently take my breath away.  In case you missed it, here is a glorious end of the day.

Memory Musings

I grew up in St. Charles in the 60’s and 70’s when it was still a small town. The best grocery store in the town was the Blue Goose. This was the store that my Mom always shopped at. I loved the Goose as a kid and still love it today, even though I do not usually get the chance to shop there. The Blue Goose was a family owned and run store and it was the place to shop in St. Charles. We knew most of the people who worked there by name, and it was and is a friendly store. If you have never stepped foot in the building, I recommend that you try it out.
