Week 28 Wednesday (7/23/14)

Recipe Review

Today’s Recipe and Location:           Roasted Spaghetti Squash with Kale
Found in: The Pioneer Woman blog

What is the difference between spaghetti squash and butternut squash?  Now that I have two squash recipes I want to know the difference between the two.
Well, I learned that they both can be yellow and orange in color. The butternut squash looks like it has big hips and a small top. Otherwise it would be an hourglass figure. Oh Lord, what am I saying? The spaghetti squash looks like the Good Year blimp.
According to Nicole the spaghetti squash is like noodles and another person said it was like a sweet potato – not that I know what that tastes like. The Butternut squash is said to have a nutty flavor – probably hence the name – duh!
They both are really good for you and full of nutrients and vitamins.
I learned a lot today – the brain dendrites are growing. Yee Ha!

Gabbin’ About Gratitude

This has been such a busy week and next week looks the same. I am so thankful for today, Sunday, (a couple of days ago), I had the entire day to myself and my girls. I stayed in bed late, watched a little of the tube, ate breakfast at 10:15, and then looked through the new cookbooks my cousin Linda gave me. What a wonderful day.
I am extremely thankful to Linda for giving me a monster stack of cookbooks. Linda you are the best and I really had fun visiting you on Saturday. I laughed at myself, as I now love to read cookbooks. Who have I become?

Memory Musings

One of our favorite things to do as kids was to play games. When we were beginning college, games were still important to us. One of my favorite games was charades.
I have a very strong memory of playing charades with the Stopka sisters. We were in the living room and LoLo was up to give the clues. Apparently, the movie from the TV guide was a difficult one because it seemed to take us forever to get the answer.  This was brought to my mind the other night because “Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia” was actually on the tube. It was late at night, or I would have called the girls to inform them.  That is one heck of a wild name for a movie. Who knew it was still on the air? Life is funny, sometimes.
