Recipe Review

Today’s Recipe and Location:  Peach Whiskey Chicken

I figured out that there are 635 calories per leg, if 12 legs are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

This chicken was outstanding.  I love the flavors of the peaches and whiskey together. I also have become a big fan of Worcestershire sauce.  I really believe that this sauce deepens the flavor of the meat.
I was a tad bit embarrassed when I went to the liquor store for a cup and a half of whiskey.  Being a nondrinker I told him the measurement I needed.  He actually laughed at me and said, “Suuuure you only need a cup and a half.”  I was first amazed and then laughed when I told him that it was for a recipe.  He offered me several types of whiskey and I settled on one and beat it for the door. I was definitely out of my element. Since then I have cooked a lot of Ree’s dishes that have alcohol in them.  Who knows…..at this rate, I may be hanging out at the liquor store more frequently.

Today’s critics:

Brandy:   - Didn't care for this one at all...I don't know...maybe I didn't give it a fair chance, but I couldn't really taste the peach or the whiskey, just tasted like a chicken but with no zing to it....
Jenny Anderson:  This dish was like eating in an expensive restaurant.  This was so amazing and my family loved it so much.  I will definitely make this again.

Craft Corner

Another craft that I adore working on is crossstitching. I love to make bread cloths to give as gifts. A quick gift is a breadcloth in a basket filled with fresh bread or bagels, and cream cheese.  I also love to make them for various holidays because you always need to serve something in a large bowl or basket.  The only issue is that I needed a really great light to help with counting the pattern.  As I age, my eyes need a little help and the Ott Light is the answer.
There just isn’t enough time in the day for everything that I love to do and create.

Random Reflections

I was sitting in a restaurant the other day and just looking around when I spotted the bulletin board.  It was littered with car ads, puppies for sale and a lost and found area.  I started wondering who created the first tear-off sheet.  What were they selling?  Did anyone buy it?  I have never put anything on a restaurant or store bulletin board and it called to me.  So I took out a piece of paper and wrote:
                           Have a wonderful life!
Now this is nothing profound, but it made me smile.
