Week 16 Monday (4/21/14)

Recipe Review

Today’s Recipe and Location: Chocolate Sheet Cake
Found in: The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl
                           Pages  218 - 220          Copyright:  2009  Harper Collins

I figured out that there are 300 calories per serving, if 24 servings are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

Boy howdy,  was this cake a hit with the masses. I took a large section of the cake to the Firestone Dealer as a thank you for quickly fixing my car on Hell Wednesday. I was so thankful for their help and thoughtfulness. There are so many really good people out there in the world. The media really helps us forget that, when all they show are the criminals and sadness in the world.
At school the teachers shared that this cake was so moist and tasty. Jenny Anderson said it reminded her of a recipe she has from her Grandmother. This cake was easy to make and scrumptious.

Craft Corner

This is a cropped photo of my first home in Aurora. Plain isn't it?

Here is the same house with a few plants added.
These pictures from 1990 are all ready to scrapbook

Today I was straightening some things in the sewing room when I came upon a box of photos. One of the things I like to do ahead is to discard photos that are not fabulous and trim down in the ones that are oaky. That way, when I am ready to scrapbook, the photos are ready to go and are in a box with dividers by the year. Organizing the photos allows me to have more time to create when I am ready.  Get ready!  Get set!  Crop your photos!

Random Reflections

I love to watch television and movies. Yesterday, I watched The Help. It was an amazing movie. I was thinking that it would be great to watch all of the nominees for Best Picture since the Academies inception. I realize that there are five movies nominated every year so to watch them all would be quite the feat, but I am adding it to my Bucket List anyway.

Wants and Wishes

What I want at this moment is summer break.  I have a job that I love, but summer is such a special time for me.  I get to do all of the things that I can’t do during the rest of the year. I think we only have 30 something school days left, and I know that it always goes so fast at the time of the year.
I realized I was sitting here smiling as I thought about daily gardening, creating cards, sewing and knitting, and getting ahead on the blog. It is also a time I get to see my nieces and nephews a little more as they used to play softball.  I am not sure if any of them will this year, however.

The Last Snow?????

Here are some pictures from last week's snowy day.  Is it over, yet??? I am yearning for spring!!!
