What the Beck???

After all of the photos I looked at, I always return to this one taken by Nicole Serpico. I love the background grasses.  I need to take new outside photos in Kentucky. Nicole, how long will it take you to get here to begin photographing??

Mowing for exercise and beauty

This morning I decided that since Robbie’s mower is waiting for a part, I would mow a small section of the yard in the morning, since the grass is unbelievably long. If we continue to get any more rain there is a good chance that I will lose a dog in the tall grass.
My left knee has had problems for years, because the cartilage is long gone. I have been faithfully doing the exercises that the physical therapist gave me, but the recovery is slow going. I thought mowing would give me additional exercise, and strengthen that knee at the same time.

I love it when the lines all go the same direction
just like when I vacuum.  Is that weird?
Stop laughing, Steve!

I love this view from the front of my house.

Of course when I finished, I iced the knee for 15 minutes, and have to say it really did feel better!
Exercise is not the only reason I wanted to mow the yard. I love the way it looks when it is mowed and the lines are straight. I also love to bag the grass. Today, I shared the clippings with my two friends, Snow and Mister, who thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

They were enjoying their hay until...

"Mister" saw me at the fence.

He was intent on seeing what I was holding in my hand.

"Snow" was curious, too. So, she ambled over.

 She is such a sweetheart!

 He waited patiently until...

I held out a handful of sweet, damp grass.

 Snow waited for her turn.

I put some on the grass for Mister

and Snow to enjoy.

Oblivious???
I am always amazed that loud noises do not even phase these cattle.  I guess they hear so many loud sounds from the tractors and natural nature noises that they are used to them by now.

No reaction as I started the mower.

Still no reaction as I walked toward them.

Sunday lunch at the Barnetts

As I was hauling grass out to the back lot line on Sunday, Denise called out to me to come on over for lunch. I was thrilled to go there because the food is fabulous, the company wonderful, and I don’t have to think about cooking when I am working.
Denise cooks a lot like my sister, Diane, and best friend, Donna. They all add a little of this and a pinch of that and don’t worry about following a recipe to a tee. Their food is all so tasty. I will never have that ability. I love to do exactly as the recipe states, and then I am guaranteed success. Maybe I can aspire to develop their skills.
Denise made the best sweet BBQ sauce. I really liked it on the chicken. It was a nice change from the same old Sweet Baby Rays that I have used in the past.
