I
figured out that there are 193 calories, if 10 servings are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the
specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)
This
rice was flavorful. Nicole Serpico said it best – “It tastes like my chicken
soup, without the broth.” It
really did taste just like that. I am not a big fan of using long grain rice,
because I always under cook it, and today was no exception. The rice was al
dente just like Nicole said. Apparently, I need to practice with this type of
rice, so that I get better with it.
Here are the ingredients that I used to create this recipe.
I began by chopping up the carrots, celery, and onion
I melted the butter
I cooked the veggies in the skillet until they softened.
I went out on the deck to cut some fresh parsley
to add in to the recipe at the end of the process.
I like to measure out the ingredients prior to cooking,
so that it goes really fast!
This is my cooking tip of the day. I also wash the
dishes or put them in the dishwasher
as I go which makes cleanup a breeze.
I added the wine to the veggies, and
cooked it until it reduced by half.
In went the bay leaf.
Now for the long grain white rice
and the broth and salt and pepper
I covered the pan and let it cook for 20 minutes.
I did screw this up because I didn't cook it long
enough, so the rice was al dente. OOPS!!!
I loved the flavor, but really need to work
on cooking the rice longer.
