What the Beck???

Recipe Review

Today’s Recipe and Location: Old-Fashioned Greek Yogurt                                  Chocolate Snacking Cake
Found in: The Pioneer Woman and tasty kitchen blogs

I figured out that there are 243 calories, if 24 servings are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

I loved this cake. The Greek yogurt made it extremely moist. It was rich and chocolate and fabulous. I shared this delicious food with the Bardstown branch of PNC Bank and the staff at Masterson’s Appliances.
This is a great dessert that is quick to make and fabulous to eat and share with friends.

I began by greasing and buttering the pan.
I did a poor job getting the excess flour out of
the pan, but the cake did come out easily anyway.

I began with the dry ingredients: unbleached all-purpose flour,

natural unsweetened cocoa,

baking soda,

and kosher salt.
Then I set the dry ingredients aside.

On to the creamy ingredients...
salted butter,

granulated sugar. I mixed them until mixed well.

In went the eggs, one at a time.
One of the best tips from Ree was to crack
the eggs into another bowl, so as not to contaminate
the recipe with those pesky egg shells.
You too, will learn it the hard way like I
have in the past. I hate starting over due to egg shells.

The final ingredient was vanilla.

I began by adding a cupful of the
dry ingredients and mixing.

I alternated adding in the dry ingredients
and the plain Greek yogurt. Once the
mixture is combined, in the pan it goes.

Here is the baked cake ready to frost after it is cool.

On to the frosting...
In the mixer bowl I added the salted butter,
and beat it until creamy.

I mixed together the powdered sugar and cocoa.

To the butter, I slowly added in the cocoa
and powdered sugar mixture.

It definitely needed the moisture of the milk,

and vanilla.

You can see how rich, creamy, and yummy these were to eat.
